Safety Tips from a Road Service
If you have had a breakdown on the side of the road, then you will need to exercise caution. Follow these helpful tips from Bighouse Towing LLC, a road service provider, that will help you and your passengers to remain as safe as possible.
-
Taking action immediately: When you suspect that you are having car trouble, start moving to the side of the road immediately, because if you wait too long, you may end up stranded in the middle of the road.
-
Get yourself as far off the road as possible: When you start to experience an emergency while driving, the most important thing that you should do is to find a safe place to pull over. At a push, a shoulder will do, however, if possible try to exit freeways, turn off roadways, and pull into a rest stop. And, again if possible, stop under the nearest street light, you should never stop on a corner or a curve, as you are a target for other motorists. Try not to stop on a left shoulder unless you absolutely have to, as you will not be able to get out of your car safely. Even at the expense of your tires, keep going until you are safe. You could even save yourself fees by your tow truck fees when you can get to a parking lot.
-
Warn other motorists that you are in trouble: Turn on your hazard lights, and if you have any flares, safety cones, signs, or triangles, use those too. If you have broken down at night, make sure you leave your lights on. You can also open your hood to show others why you have stopped.
-
Call for roadside assistance: If you are lucky enough to have roadside assistance, you need to call them immediately. Most are available 24/7 with fast service and they will either repair your car or take you to the nearest garage.
